Frequently asked questions.

What happens if my flight is canceled at the last moment?

Once Neutralflight generates a compensation certificate, it automatically finances the ecoproject of interest and generates an immutable and irreversible certificate. This is exactly what makes the process reliable.

For this reason we recommend that you make the compensation anytime before taking a trip, and if necessary hours before your flight.

In the same way, if you make a compensation, and you take your canceled flight hours or days later, the certificate is still valid for the neutralization of your trip.

What happens if I miss my flight due to major force?

Your certificate will remain valid for the flight that you later take on the same route.

What are the ecoprojects that I will be supporting?

We are currently contributing to three (3) REDD + projects, that is, they reduce emissions from the preservation, restoration and reforestation of primary and secondary forests of the greater Amazon, and are located in: Brazil, Peru and Colombia.

These projects are certified with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and in some cases with Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB).

You can also contribute to projects that comply with the Clean Development Mechanisms certified by the United Nations, and located in Costa Rica and Uganda.

Both projects are related to energy transformation and the search for more renewable sources of energy with less environmental impact.

Currently, only the project that we support in Uganda complies with the CORSIA requirements, however, the other projects are still interesting to voluntarily neutralize emissions with high-quality carbon credits and that generate triple impact: social, economic and environmental. .

More information about the projects can be found in the profile of each project on the website.

In which case does a money refund apply and how can I manage it?

According to our policy, NEUTRALFLIGHT does not allow the refund of the amount or entry previously negotiated through the link www.neutralflight.com, the user may not exercise the right of withdrawal or resolution, in accordance with current regulations in consumer affairs and management of retail trade.

In the event of an error in the amount of compensation units purchased, you should write to the email support@neutralflight.com to expose the situation and seek the return of resources prior to the cancellation and correction of the Certificate.

Of the exceptions: NEUTRALFLIGHT will only be able to make the refund of the amount or entry previously negotiated through the link www.neutralflight.com, when a double payment associated with the same transaction is presented and verified, for which only the user who made the transaction You can submit a written request to Neutralflight's financial administration, through support@neutralflight.com, indicating the situation and requesting reimbursement for this double payment, the note must contain at least: full name of the user, number of the Neutralflight certificate, proof that shows the duplication in the payment, number of the credit and / or debit card used, name of the card issuing entity, email address, telephone number, VISA Credit / Debit card number and Master Card, or other forms of payment accepted by STRIPE, which will eventually be the final recipient of the refund. For this purpose NEUTRALFLIGHT has a period not exceeding 15 business days (from the date of receipt of the request), to proceed to resolve and deposit said refund.

How does flight compensation work?

The compensations made for air flights with NEUTRALFLIGHT take into account the number of passengers, the airlines used by the travelers, the routes associated with the trip, whether round trip or multiple routes, in addition to the class of the flight considering whether it is economical and / or executive. Once the parameters required by NEUTRALFLIGHT to estimate the emissions of an air trip have been completed, the tool calculates the distance traveled, and based on the distance traveled per passenger and per route, it determines whether the flight is short, medium or long according to the DEFRA and GHG Protocol methodologies, and then the relevant emission factor, a forced radiation index factor (IPCC) and an elevation factor are associated to reduce the uncertainty of the distance travelled. Under this estimate, a reliable approximation to the emission value per passenger and per air trip is achieved, taking into account the various possible routes associated with each case.

The user can make the compensation by activating their own account in NEUTRALFLIGHT or through the link or QR of the account of an ally such as a tourism agency, hotel, rent a car or airline.

The offsets made by NEUTRALFLIGHT represent withdrawals previously made by carbon credit providers for the benefit of platform users, so it is possible to trace each contribution and scale the carbon credit transfer or withdrawal business model in tons. of CO2e for compensation purposes, to a sustainable model of neutralization using smart tokens of 1 Kg. of CO2e.

How does compensation work for a lodging service and rent a car?

Compensation for accommodation or vehicle rental can be made directly by activating an account in NEUTRALFLIGHT or through the link or QR of the account of an ally such as a tourism agency, hotel, rent a car or airline that has the type of activity enabled. compensate (flight, lodging and/or car rental) in your account settings.

The emission factor used to estimate the impact of one night of accommodation per guest is based on a life cycle analysis of accommodation services carried out by the Öko Institut ("Vergleichende Stoffstromanalyse Motorcaravanreise", 2007), in addition to direct measurements carried out by GreenCloud .io from Costa Rica to various types of accommodation (hotels, resorts, hostels, private accommodation).

The emission factor used to estimate vehicle rental emissions is based on the categorization of the vehicle based on its engine size, type of fuel used and the distance traveled during the vehicle rental. The emission factors used are the same as those published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
